It is what it is , a beautiful rustic viewing spot from the victoriana era beautifully restored . Its all about the view and a bit of history . There's a lovely little cafe called Joe's at the bottom of it , worth a visit if you are hiking round the lakes and want some good pictures

Nice viewing station with plenty of walking to do nearby. Would recommend going to Joey's cafe which serves all vegan food. The food was delicious and guilt free, everything was recyclable and I was left very satisfied with the food and friendly staff.

This was a filler for a morning whilst in he Lake District. Lovely place to visit with superb views of Windemere. The added bonus is Joeys cafe on the way out from the visit. Cracking place to visit irrespective of weather. You can catch the council run ferry as a foot passenger for a pound or go on one of the Lake excursion boats for a few pennies more. Both leave from Bowness.

The nearest parking is 1/4 mile away. Uphill stairs! The parking is £5 unless you are a National Trust member, then it’s free. You can also walk from the ferry that crosses the Lake Windemere from Bowness. The views are good but nothing special.

We enjoyed the ferry over for £1 an adult and then straight up to Claife Viewing station which takes only 5 minutes. Where there are amazing views along the way and especially at the top. Free to go up. Fabulous views. We also enjoyed a drink from the coffee shop below. Called Joeys. Nice stop. Inside and outside a small cafe. Plenty of seats and canopies. A nice vegan ice cream. Plenty others to choose from. Cakes. Snacks and great coffee. Then off for a good walk along to Heald woods by slape scar. Which is right alongside the lake Windermere.

Lovely place to visit however there isn't much parking at all, two disabled spaces. I would say take cash for parking unless you're a NT member because the machine didn't accept cards. This viewpoint is up hill so do expect climbing, definitely not wheelchair or pram friendly

We crossed Nab ferry on foot then 4 mile walk on good terrain and no big hills along lakeside. Great little cafe, Joe's, on site. Nice grounds. Castle rather empty of substance to view. But walk there and back was a pleasure. Returned to viewing gallery. Fun site through victoriana glass windows
