Wow just got back from 4 days camping here and it was absolutely wonderful, the lake front sites are highly recommended for such a nice view. I will definitely be back again, this is my new favorite camp ground. The onsite pizza oven was a plus and we rented a canoe to go around the lake. Only downside as mentioned the bathrooms were a bit dirty but I’m sure it’s hard to keep clean when it’s wet and rainy and everyone is tracking water in, the lovely site and grounds made up for this though and it did not hinder our experience.

Great campsite with facilities. Perfect spot to walk out from (many on AllTrails) had a great spot first night, rain came in heavy second day so park warden asked us if we could move to a different pitch so we wouldn’t get isolated if the road flooded (it did) other pitch was equally good. Free electricity and good shower/toilet block with plenty of warm water and kept extremely clean. Recommended spot for a great price too. Walkability: Walked from campsite Wray Castle to Low Loanthwaite and back. 6m easy walk - on AllTrails.

This was our second visit to LW and in typical lakes style it rained…a lot. But we had a great time regardless. The tree tent was a great experience, the kids loved it. Everything is provided for you, so you only need food, sleeping bags. The facilities are good, the staff are friendly. The onsite pizza is very good. We will be trying the safari tents next. Cheers

We've just come back from a week in the lakes staying at Low Wray and it is probably the best campsite I have ever stayed at. We chose a lakeside pitch which was absolutely gorgeous (see pics). The site was fully booked but never felt overcrowded, never had to queue for the toilets or shower (both clean and lovely). No groups meant the site was quiet after dark, which made it even more relaxing and peaceful. Everyone seemed to respect each other's space and the nature around- no rubbish left out or antisocial behaviour! There is a (nice) pizza van, cafe and shop on site too which is a bonus. Also on-site activities; canoe, kayak, bike hire. Highly recommended, thankyou to all the staff who clearly work very hard to keep the space lovely.

This is really a five star site. The location is perfect right in the shore of Windermere. Only a short drive from Ambleside but so much quieter. There are not many campervan pitches so you have to book early. Some are just big enough for a van. Others are quite big. We had a van and an awning and lots of space. That was pitch 181. So would recommend that one. There’s a mix of open air ones and ones secluded by trees so you can pick. The tent pitches were amazing. Big and in lovely peaceful locations. Some are on lake shore pretty idyllic. The site itself has plenty of bathrooms which are clean. A little shop which sells essentials and souvenirs. There’s loads for kids. Like a little high ropes, badminton and petanc. We don’t have kids and it’s not a manic kids only place. Just noticed that the kids were well entertained. Also you can hire kayaks and paddle boards from about £20. On site there’s a pizza bar but it’s not open all the time. Staff are also fab and will charge your phone in the office if you don’t fancy leaving it in the bathroom on charge! Nearby activities: Just a short walk -about a mile - is low Wray castle. Very beautiful. It has a cafe on site. Also paths are a available to Ambleside and hawks head which we didn’t get chance to do this time so will do next time. We will be booking again very soon for next year.

By far our favourite campsite! Pitches are really spacious with lots of room for children to play. Short walk from the toilet block which was always really clean- showers were also nice and hot! Great being so close to the lake, you can hire canoes, paddle boards etc from the campsite, however we brought our own. Really peaceful on a night, no issues with noise. There’s little rabbits hopping about the site which my children loved, along with our little duck visitors who came right up to our tent! Lovely park and badminton net with equipment left to play with. Staff were always really helpful. Well stocked shop on site which sold amazing pastries and coffee! There’s no cars allowed on the tent field, which was a slight inconvenience with having a heavy air tent, however, there are wheelbarrows around to take your stuff from the car to the pitch. It also felt safe for the children to run around without worrying about cars on the field. We can’t wait to return! Such a chilled out campsite with loads to do!

We loved Low Wray, absolutely stunning campsite. Calm and quiet. Direct access to Windermere and paddle board/kayak hire. Nice little shop and lovely pizza from the on site pizza van. Floors of the toilet/shower block seemed to be constantly wet and muddy but the weather hadn’t been good.

This is our favourite campsite. We usually stay in the woodland pitches as it’s so quiet and beautiful! Staff are amazing! A big thank you to Victoria and the staff over the bank holiday weekend. Really helpful and lovely with the kids. Thank you for another amazing trip x

I had a great 5 night stay on pitch 210 (Right on the edge of the lake with a mazing views). The staff were great (especially Chris and Ella at the activity Base), the shop is well stocked and the Pizza van was amazing. The only negative point was that the toilet/shower blocks tend to get very dirty/muddy and there isn't a mop & bucket or cloths for you to clean up after yourself when finished - it would be an easy fix and make the facilities a lot nicer for all.
