Came across Joey's cafe during a walk from Hawkshead to Wray Castle. We're a plant based bunch and hoped we could maybe get a coffee or soup at the Castle. We were made up to see we could have anything on the menu!
We absolutely loved the selection of pasties we chose. Shame we live nearly 200 miles away or would be regulars. Definitely will come back on the next Lake District visit!

We were surprised to find a mainly plant-based cafe here and especially one with such good cake and light bite options! Yes, the coffee and cake were slightly more expensive than most places but all the things we had were of a high quality. One cake was enough for us to share with two little ones.
Dogs are very well catered for and service was really friendly and efficient, though it was a quieter winter day on our visit. Whilst they had plenty of plant-based options, cows milk coffees etc were available.
The toilets are the general National Trust ones which weren't the best but this is beyond the control of the café I think.

Amazing food!! I didn't realise it was a veggie café until I was chatting to the lovely barista. Had an incredible brownie and a no-steak pasty; both were incredible and honestly wouldn't have known they were plant based if I hadn't asked.
Lovely staff, who were very accommodating for allergies. Love the café and look forward to trying out some other branches in the area.

Amazing array of food, and was pleasantly surprised that most of it was vegan. We got a coffee to go, a steak bake and a brownie and everything was delicious. Don’t be put off by the sour reviews that complain about the fact that most of the menu is vegan; it’s great these types of places exist given how many people are vegan and/or have dietary requirements. And as for the price, we felt it was pretty affordable; you can taste that the quality of the food is great and that they use good quality ingredients. Look forward to our next visit at Joey’s :)

Amazing spot! Great Vegeterian and vegan food with a wide range of choice for everyone, not matter what you like to eat. We had loaded nachos, dhal and soup. Enjoyed a tasty cake for dessert. Date and cinnamon! 😋

This was the only cafe on our root so it was perfect :) Playgrounds for children and pets is a big advantage. Prices are higher than usual, BUT let’s be honest, this is a tourism area:) Ice latte was perfect. We have not ordered any food though so hard to tell if there is something good to eat.

Very over priced .... Stopped off here for some much needed energy after a long walk.
Trying to eat a little more sensible so apart from the cakes, pastries I looked at a salad! £8.80 I nearly fell over!!!
I settled on 2 sandwiches (£5.60 each) and two drinks, nearly £17 later the coronation chick pea was vile!
If you want food or drink bring a pack up as this place is your only option and they clearly overprice becuase of this. IMHO

We found Joey's to be a lovely, quirky little cafe. Situated in the grounds of Wray Castle, Joey's was spacious yet snug at the same time, with little cubby holes to sit in. There was a seating area outside, and we were close to toileting facilities.
The decor was fun and friendly.
Staff were friendly, food was tasty...especially the cinnamon buns....you NEED to go just to try one of these masterpieces!
The children enjoyed their snacks and lovely hot chocolate.
We had a Croissant, Cinnamon bun, Sweet potato, jalapeño and Sheese pastie, smoothy and hot chocolate.
